Twin Sides Of The Same Coin For Naveen

First of all, thanks friends for the calls and feedback, that you gave me on my yesterday's post on KP Singhdeo. Frankly I accept one of my friend's comment that I am no more that analytic. Being away from mainstream journalism for more than two years might be the cause of this deterioration.

This post is about why/why not Naveen Pattnaik will be lucky for third time. This post enlists the same factors that can act as a Catalyst or a Boomerang.

Development Prank
Sheila Dikshit made it in Delhi. Shivraj Singh repeated his success in Madhyapradesh. Both of them won elections on their development prank. Naveen might be thinking of a samilar result in his case. Tall claims of industrialization, employment and investment are some of the so-called achievements of Naveen Pattnaik. For Non-resident Oriyas the picture created by Naveen might be rosy. But in my personal opinion,  if Naveen is solely depending on this, he is at the Fool's Paradise. Coalliation with left has seriously damaged his pro-industrialization image. Posco and Bibhu Tarai(BJD supported candidate of CPI from Jagatsinghpur) are the complete mismatches. Similarly the fate of Vedanta, steel majors and Tisco is now heading towards dark if you can analyse the profile of the candidates selected by Naveen for the proposed sites.

Election Rice(Vote chawwal)
Rice at subsidized rate has created miracles for politicians across India. I am not focussing on how much central subsidy is required to provide rice @2/kilo to the BPL families. But, how Naveen is not expecting that BJP, congress and others might follow the same steps or even for a better deal? BJP is now promising rice at 1 Rupee/per kilo and PDS of Dal and salt. Hence, in my personal analysis, Naveen is not going to have a bigger sort of special millage from his Election Rice.

Unemployment and salable dreams
Employment opportunity is the single largest salable dream in the election drama in Orissa. Naveen knows it the best and as per my estimation, he has done some commendable job in last nine years to create a hallucination regarding employment opportunities and generation. However, it has its own sets of disadvantages too. Money never grows on tree and from where Naveen will bring the magic wand to fulfill all his pre-poll populist promises?

Isms Hurting Naveen

If something is creating the worst nightmare for Naveen, it is a set of myriad isms. He left BJP(known for communalism). His New friends follow marxism. Naxalism is now at the highest altitude. Ism might become a mighty roadblock between So Called Mr. Surf-Excel and Simghasan of Orissa

KP Singhdeo- The barking dog or a roaring tiger?

Sorry friends for not writing anything for almost a year. Slow down was such a mighty demon, I really feared to think beyond the job of content coordinating for my agency.

The dance of democracy has started again. Same players, same play, only with different mask- all have pulled their shocks ready to rape our sentiment, exploit our ignorance and sell really tall but practically unachievable dreams. Let's talk about the lead players and have an idea what their action of game is going to be. In this post I will focuss only on Kamakshya Prasad Singhdeo, president and spearhead of congress in Orissa.

I first came in contact with Kamakshya Prasad Singhdeo(KP) when I was a student of IIMC. His six feet height(!) and above all, his contribution to open a branch of IIMC at Orissa were two major factors for me to have some sort of prestige for him. Stories related to Jatan Nagar, defense and telecom scam etc etc were there in mind as a journalism student but I thought Raja Saheb is slightly different from traditional congresswalas of orissa.

I, even in my wildest dream, never thought that KP will lead congress in Orissa one day as I always(still now) have the belief that Janaki ballav Pattnaik is the only one who is responsible for both win and loss of congress in Orissa. PCC without JB is more or less a joke for me. Hate him or love him, you can not simply ingore his electioneering capacity.

And when KP Singhdeo became the OPCC president with three crutches( working presidents) I thought congress is going to distance itself from JB and infuse new blood into organisation. But, no news is good news for Orissa Congress and KP from his last two month's activities, has proved that he is the worst efficient and incapable leader. Instances.....................

1-How a PCC president can make a statement that someone has forged his signature to send his resignation to AICC?

2-How the person will lead Orissa who is not sure about his own constituency and victory?

3-What was the need of ignoring the congressmen who were with the party in 1990(the worst days) and give preference to paper tigers and letter writers like Srikant(better known as CHAKRANT) Jena, Bhakta Das, etc.?

4-Why Congress was unable to trap a prized catch called Bijay Mahapatra? At least, he is the only person having the loud audacity against the million dollar Hariloot in last Nine years of Naveen Pattnaik's regime?

5-Why KP Singhdeo is not clearing his stand on issues like Possco, Kalinga nagar, Vedanta?

6- Can KP explain why party ticket was not given to Uma Ratha in Puri and how Vedanta and Jindal have influenced congress ticket allocation in Orissa?

7- While the cook of ex-cm Go-Man-Go can have a ticket, were Rohit Pujari, Tara Bahinipati so incapable?

8- Does KP have any answer for why people refused congress tickets while it is allegedly said that congress tickets were sold at 30 lakhs?

9- Why the rules like one ticket for a family, no ticket to a person who has been defeated for last two elections, 30% preference to youth were subverted?

10- Can KP tame the tiger and the most acceptable congress leader(for now) Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra?

AN OPEN LETTER TO MR NAVEEN PATTNAYAK

ANSWER MR NA-VEEN-TUGHLAQ - WHERE IS BIJU BABU'S UNFULFILLED DREAMS AND YOUR SHILPONNAT ORISSA??????????????

Dear Mr chief minister,
As you can not understand Oriya(the privilege of 4 crore Oriyas to have such a CM!) I preferred to write in English. I am not such an acclaimed and proficient writer like you to be flowery in words. This may be my advantage also.

When you entered the Oriya political arena, you mesmerized us with the dreams of industrialization, development and an unemployment free Orissa. “MAA KU SAMMAN HATA KU KAMA-BJD RA ANYA NAM”- sounded so heart touching that you became the messiah for the starved Orissa. On the first stoke you became an MP, a central cabinet minister and chief minister on your first entry to the state assembly. What a luck Naveen babu! You are born with a silver spoon!

Whenever you found anything that has the slightest potential of tarnishing your surf-excel image- you sacked IAS officers, dismissed ministers and denied people with tickets. As far as your party and way of functioning is concerned, you might be called Mr unpredictable but I am least concerned with it. However, if it is the development of Orissa, I have every right to ask as a concerned Oriya. Where is the dream of developed Orissa that you sew in 1997.????

43 odd MOUs but not a single project in operation- Mr Naveen who offered you the liesence to sell the minerals of Orissa at the price of vegetables to foreign multinationals? The harilloot of natural resource means a skeletal Orissa after 30 years. Is your economics so bad to count the outcome of such exploitation??? Development can never be done by ignoring the the means of living of indegenous people. You are forcing our next generation to starve without food and job with this mindless extravaganza.

POSCO and Priyabrata-POSCO is your dream project and you subverted all the laws to allow all the favours to this steel giant. But where is POSCO now? Out of the 4,000 acres that is required for plant, 3567 acres are Government land. And, for rest 400 acres , you had an official dacaiot called Priyabrata Pattnayak. Why the POSCO steel plant is in papers still now???

Biju babu's unfulfilled dreams: Every time you addresss a political rally, Biju babu's unfulfilled dreams become alive from nowhere. I have no idea whether you were present near the death bed when the epitome of oriya self esteem breathed his last to have the knowledge of his dreams and unfulfilled aspirations. However, my own analysis says that if you are at least sympathetic to the values of late Biju babu, you could not have  dared to sell OTM at scrap rate.

Secularism -a nightmare now- After the kandhamal riot, the image of Orissa changed drastically across the world. The land known for it religious tolerance and harmony for centuries, witnessed the worst communal riot during your tenure. Instead of taking any precautionary step, you prefered to remain silent. Your mystic silence is going to write a disastrous history for Orissa.

Andhra dadagiri and your callous approach: Be it mahendratanaya or Vanshadhara, we the people of Orissa are the sufferers of Andhra's dadagiri in every intrastate water dispute. You have made Andhra previleged by your timid and callous approach. Andhra does not need any extra effort to deny the legitimate rights of Orissa as they have a close friend named Naveen Pattnayak.

Naxal problem- Naxal problem reached its highest altitude during your reign. They can now dare to kill cops at Nayagarh- a mere 80 km distance from state capital. How indifferent can a leader may be???

Write and forget- Every time Orissa is neglected, you come with your popular phrase-' I have written a letter regarding it to center'- Mr CM development is not all about writing letters. If it is the case, then better hire 2-3 good letter writers and quit your seat.

Mass unemployment: Your employment promises are the sharpest betrayal for the Orissa youth. No new jobs, no vision, no planning for self employment- it's enough Mr CM. Perhaps you are of the perception that, to secure your seat you need an Orissa where unemployment is the stark reality and dreams are salable.

Law and order- In your reign senior IPS officers are caught red handed while helping criminals. Senior IAS officers are involved in murder and if I am not wrong many people in Orissa think that gangsters like Raja, Hyder and Tito rule the state. The law and order is so precarious that, even Delhi police did not wish to inform you before nabbing Brijesh singh at Bhubaneswar.

Unsafe for women- During 2000 Election you hyped the "Anjana Mishra rape case" and got voluminous support as a woman sympathizer. What happened now? Even a person who was at a constitutionally respectable post like speaker is being charged with sexual harassment. When the state legislature is not safe for women, a layman can easily assume the condition through out the state.

Mr chief minister- You have played with the Oriya sentiment according to your wish. It's enough now. You have still 8 months left. Make the necessary corrections otherwise remain prepared to be paid in your own coin....... Parambrahma Tripathy

SOCIETY CREATES CRIME BUT IT IS THE MAN WHO COMMITS IT

The high end drama is over now. Raja surrendered???? the newly formed police commiserate showed its proficiency and capability! let it i m not focusing on the capability or inefficiency of orissa police. They are chosen from us and any society gets that cop what it deserves. but the question is what went wrong??? how a person from a highly educated family can become a terror for humanity.
Sandeep acharya's parents are in administrative service. his maternal grandfather is a principal and an academician of repute. Raja himself is highly educated. so what went wrong??? what was the situation that made sandeep the dreaded gangster raja bhai. nothing there was no such situation which compelled him to become mafia. no exploitation by society( as in case of phoolan devi, etc) no discrimination nothing----- so how a raja acharya was created????

Eighties saw a the evolution of dreaded gangsters at cuttack. Tito, haider, padia sahu, suleman started their crime career in the early eighties. raja was a petti criminal then and came to limelight by killing biju dalai in july 9 1999. then raja involved himself in extortion, tender fixing, hafta, real estate, oriya album industry and railway scrap business. In 2002, padia sahu was shot dead by raja's men. After padia's murder raja was the undisputed king of cuttack underworld.
i am least interested of glorifying raja's criminal record. my area of concern is how and why a raja acharya was created. if there was no priyabrata pattnaik, binay behera or amiya pattnaik- was there any existence of RAJA? the answer is no. raja very weelly knew that he can rape the system according to his wishe untill there are power brokers like priyabrata. if we call raja a murderer, then we should call priyabrata a double murderer as he not only involved himself in Biranchi's murder case but also killed the law and order system.

its rightly called society creates crime but human commits it. it is the basic nature of human. crime and development go hands in hands. this fact is supported by history. we can combat terrorism naxallism but can not subdue a gangster like raja. the reason is simple - he did not become mafia due to starvation. so whats the solution??
i will be glad if you share your views

NAXALISM- ORISSA THE NEW RED CORRIDER!!!

The spread of Naxalism is an indication of the sense of desperation and alienation that is sweeping over of large sections of our nation who have been not only systematically marginalised but cruelly exploited and dispossessed in their last homelands…the central Indian adivasis have been described as “the original autochthonous people of India” meaning that their presence in India pre-dated the Dravidians, the Aryans and whoever else settled in this country…these are the real swadeshi products of India, in whose presence all others are foreign. These are ancient people with moral rights and claims thousands of years old. They were here first and should come first in our regard…Unfortunately like indigenous people all over the world, the India’s adivasis too have been savaged and ravaged by later people claiming to be more ‘civilised’.
The problem is acute in atleast 10 districts of orissa. The recent mahyem caused by the naxalites has creeated the reign of fear.

In orissa over 72 percent of all adivasis (indigenous minority of the population of India, the term often used synonymously with tribals) live well below the poverty line and the Naxals are becoming more powerful by the day. At the national level 45.86 percent of all adivasis live below the poverty line which means that almost half of India’s original inhabitants go to bed every night starving. Several anthropometric studies have revealed that successive generations of adivasis are actually becoming smaller unlike all other people in India who benefit from better and increasingly nutritious diets. the oriya average is dangerously above the national statistics.

can we combat with this situation???
there is no short cut as it is a social problem.
BUT STILL WE CAN AS ORISSA BELONGS TO THE DEPRESSED CLASS ALSO.

pride is a forced slave, but a forceful master

As they say pride is a forced slave, but a forceful master. I have little qualm about feeling proud to be an Oriya. But I have my doubts.

What is it exactly I feel proud about? Is it because when my friends ask me about my home state, I sheepishly claim its Orissa, one of the most backward states in India and to hide that fact, I quickly add that "but I am proud of it." Or, is it because people behave in my state in such a way that as if there is no world outside and they would be fine if they overcome the problem they are having with their neighbor, who again happens to be Oriya. (Notice how I am writing Oriya, instead of Odiya!)

ZERO UNEMPLOYMENT- NOT AN ILLUSION

HERE IS MY ANSWER TO THE SO CALLED UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM OF ODISHA

All schemes should be bankable, meant for 6 lakh educated unemployed. Instead of subsidy, loans should be linked to higher credit, nomination facility and other performance-linked patronage. Steps may be taken to issue self-employment credit cards in the line of Kissan Credit Card with automatic credit rating and refinance provision. Schemes should have a growth-acceleration format so that within 5 years 25% of the enterprises grow into SSIs, 5% into L&M and atleast 1% as market leaders
Productive Activity : Entire Orissa may be divided into some 12/15 Micro Economic Zones according to the mass based resource utilisation potential, traditional skill, scope for skill development and marketability. Every zone must have a common, but wide activity circle. The govt should help to promote some decentralized core enterprises through local entrepreneurs for value addition of that common activity. The government should provide market link, bank facility, training and constant performance guidance till breakeven point. It will indirectly promote some supporting activities proportionate to the main activity and create an overall impact circle. The zones may be supported by different Product Routes interlinking the raw material-processing-finishing-market channels. 50% of the loans should be utilised in the commercial agriculture and food based ventures which has a wide home market, besides massive employment potential. Short term lease of idle govt lands may be given to youth groups for market-linked community farming.
Market : To give further boost to productive activities, the govt should help to develop some specialised wholesale markets in the proximity of the economic zones. Emphasis should be given to local traders under self-employment schemes to break the monopoly of outsiders who not only exploit the small producers, but also divert the demands at the time of need, causing market crash. To further expand the scope of the market, the govt should promote Unified Marketing Chain from Malkangiri to Mumbai under self-employment schemes. It can sustain 50,000-60,000 direct beneficiaries and 15-20% of the target investment.
Special Projects : The Mission should initiate some strategic projects under direct govt supervision and professional guidance, where a greater objective can be achieved by strategic facilitation and orientation. With the advantage of unique Sambalpuri cloth, garment manufacturing is a potential category which can provide direct employment opportunity to minimum 10,000 teams(1,00,000 persons) in manufacturing and 10,000-20,000 weavers, besides a possible 2% share of the Rs.54,000cr. Indian garment export market( ><1,000 Cr.) over a period of 5 years. The govt only needs to link it to advanced dress designing, quality control and aggressive marketing.
5% of the target funds should be earmarked as Venture Capital to promote talented youths with outstanding marketable ideas and skills..
Self-employment schemes can be very useful to promote new Integrated Tourist Circles with 5-10 spots in each circle. Tourist Home concepts, instead of hotels, can be worked out in the Tribal Tourism, Cultural Tourism, Eco-tourism and small Religious Tourism destinations. Welfare sectors like health, education, communication, minor irrigation, environment, e-Governance can be developed under self-employment schemes in government-youth partnership.
Zero Unemployment Model : We know we cannot make whole state unemployment-free overnight. So, the Mission should take up 2/3 Zero Unemployment Models in different regions of the state under Mo Odisha, Mo Bhavishyat, if the state government is sure of its policies and programmes. These Models will be the laboratories of the Employment Policy and a practical test for the Employment Mission. If the government can not deliver concrete results at the grassroots, it should not keep the people in illusion.

I WILL BE GLAD TO LISTEN FROM YOU ABOUT MY VISION

MO ODISHA MO BHABISHYAT IS NOT A SLOGAN ITS A MISSION
